Die Vikos-Schlucht im Vikos-Aóos-Nationalpark ist zwischen 600 und 1000 Meter tief. Bezogen auf die Breite gilt sie angeblich als tiefste der Welt. Beeindruckend ist sie allemal. Da wir nicht weit entfernt vom Aussichtspunkt Oxya übernachtet haben, sind wir schon früh dort. Hier können wir nicht nur in beide Richtungen der Vikos-Schlucht blicken sondern auch in eine Nebenschlucht, die quer verläuft. Hinter dem Dorf Monodendri geht der Blick in das eine Ende der Schlucht.
Vikos Gorge The Vikos Gorge in the Vikos-Aóos National Park is between 600 and 1000 meters deep. In terms of width, it is said to be the deepest in the world. It is impressive in any case. Auf dem Weg zu den spektakulären Felstürmen am anderen Ende der Schlucht kommen wir durch farbenfroh herbstliche Berglandschaften. Unten am Ausgang der Schlucht fließt der Fluss Voidomatis durch einen Platanen-Wald.
On the way to the spectacular rock towers at the other end of the gorge we come through colorful autumnal mountain landscapes. At the exit of the gorge the river Voidomatis flows through a plane tree forest.
Als wir nach 19 Serpentinen den besten Blick über das Dorf Vikos hinweg in die Schucht haben, steht die Sonne wieder richtig.
