Zum Höhepunkt der Tulpenblüte zieht an einem Samstag im April der jährliche Blumenkorso durch das historische Blumenzwiebel-Anbaugebiet (Bollenstreek). Alle „Blumenzwiebel-Gemeinden“ des Gebiets in der niederländischen Provinz Zuid Holland und die „Blumenstadt“ Haarlem sind beteiligt. Der Zug und verschiedene weitere Veranstaltungen über fünf Tage gelten als „das größte Frühlingsfest der Niederlande“. Über 42 km geht die Fahrt der üppig mit Hyazinthen, Tulpen, Narzissen und vielen anderen Blumen geschmückten Wagen. Start ist um 9:15 Uhr in Noordwijk, Ende soll um 21.30 Uhr in Haarlem sein. Beteilgte Spielmannszüge sind wohl jeweils lokale Gruppen, die nur ein Stück der Route mitgehen.
Einer der ersten Orte auf der Route ist Voorhout. Hier haben wir frühzeitig einen guten Parkplatz gefunden. Als der Zug eintrifft, haben wir am Ortseingang auf einer Straßeninsel beste Sicht auf jedes Fahrzeug und jede Musikgruppe.
Bollenstreek Flower Parade
At the peak of the tulip blossom, the annual flower parade passes through the historic flower bulb growing area (Bollenstreek) on a Saturday in April. All „flower bulb municipalities“ of the area in the Dutch province of Zuid Holland and the „flower city“ Haarlem are involved. The procession and various other events over five days are considered „the biggest spring festival in the Netherlands“. The journey of the floats, lavishly decorated with hyacinths, tulips, daffodils and many other flowers, goes over 42 km. The start is at 9.15 am at Noordwijk, the end is at 9.30 pm in Haarlem. The marching bands involved are probably local groups that only walk part of the route.
One of the first places on the route is Voorhout. Here we found a good parking space early on. When the procession arrives, we have the best view of every vehicle and music group on a road island at the entrance to the town.
