San Francisco Bay Brücken
Der Großraum San Francisco ist berühmt für seine großen Brücken über die Buchten. Die Bay Bridge (San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge), zwischen San Francisco und Oakland, besteht aus zwei sehr verschiedenen Teilen. Die eine, zwischen SF und der kleinen Insel Yerba Bueno Island, hat zwei Etagen, eine für die eine Fahrtrichtung, eine für die Gegenrichtung. Von der Insel nach Oakland führt eine weitere Brücke, mit Harfe.

The greater San Francisco area is famous for its large bridges over the bays. The Bay Bridge (San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge) between San Francisco and Oakland consists of two very different parts. One, between SF and the small Yerba Bueno Island, has two levels, one for one direction of travel, one for the opposite direction. Another bridge, with a harp, leads from the island to Oakland.

Eine weltberühmte Ikone ist die Golden Gate Bridge, die das „Goldene Tor“, die Zufahrt vom Pazifik in die Bucht, überspannt. Wir haben sie von allen Seiten in Augenschein genommen. Unter der südlichen Auffahrt der Brücke steht ein Fort, das seit dem 19. Jahrhundert die Meerenge schützt, lange bevor die Brücke gebaut wurde. Auf dem Fort, unter der Brücke, steht der kleine Fort Point Leuchtturm.
A world-famous icon is the Golden Gate Bridge, which spans the „Golden Gate“, the entrance from the Pacific to the bay. We took a look at it from all sides. Under the southern approach to the bridge is a fort that has protected the strait since the 19th century, long before the bridge was built. On top of the fort, under the bridge, stands the small Fort Point lighthouse.
