Salzflächen, Salzseen, Salzwüsten, Salzlandschaften, Salzflüsse, Salinen und Salzberge faszinieren. Sie sind außergewöhnliche und bizarre Landschaften. Auf unseren Reisen haben wir gelegentlich Salz an der Erdoberfläche oder in hoher Konzentration im Wasser gesehen. Meistens sind uns dabei besondere Fotos gelungen:
An der Westküste von Western Australia gibt es hohe Salzkonzentrationen in verschiedenen Erscheinungsformen:
- Bei Coolimba zeigt ein Salzsee im Stockyard Gully National Park schneeweiße Randflächen und ausgeprägte Salzkristalle.
- Das rosa Wasser des Sees Hutt Lagoon ist bis zu einem Drittel mit Salz angereichert.
- Bei Three Springs und Carnamah bilden die Yarra Yarra Lakes einen Flickenteppich von Salzseen.
Salt flats, salt lakes, salt deserts, salt landscapes, salt rivers, salt pans and salt mountains are fascinating. They are extraordinary and bizarre landscapes. On our travels we have occasionally seen salt on the surface of the earth or in high concentrations in the water. Most of the time we succeeded in taking special photos:
On the west coast of Western Australia there are high concentrations of salt in various manifestations:
- At Coolimba, a salt lake in Stockyard Gully National Park shows snow-white rims and distinct salt crystals.
- The pink water of Hutt Lagoon is up to a third enriched with salt.
- At Three Springs and Carnamah, the Yarra Yarra Lakes form a patchwork of salt lakes.
Bedeutende Natur- und Landschaftsphänomene in Namibia sind von Salzton geprägt . Hinzu kommt eine sehenswerte Saline:
- Die Etosha-Pfanne ist eine 4760 Quadratkilometer große Salz-Ton-Ebene.
- Zwischen Walvis Bay und Sandwich Harbour liegt am Atlantik eine Meerwasser-Saline mit rosa Wasser (ähnlich Hutt Lagoon, siehe oben).
Significant natural and landscape phenomena in Namibia have been shaped by salt clay. In addition, there is a saline worth seeing:
- The Etosha Pan is a 4760 square kilometre salt-clay plain.
- Between Walvis Bay and Sandwich Harbour, at the Atlantic Ocean, there is a saltwater saline with pink water (similar to Hutt Lagoon, see above).
Auf der Anreise nach Griechenland haben wir in Süditalien die Saline di Margherita di Savoia besucht.
Die Salzebenen “Salt Plains” im Wood Buffalo National Park in der kanadischen Provinz Alberta haben uns ganz besonders begeistert.
In Rumänien gibt es außer Salzbergwerken auch Oberflächen-Salz:
- Salz tritt als Gestein an die Erdoberfläche im Salz Canyon bei Praid und
- in den “Weißen Bergen” bei Lopătari.
In Spanien konnten wir im trocken gefallenen Teil des Salzsees Laguna la Playa umher gehen.
On our way to Greece, we visited the Saline di Margherita di Savoia in southern Italy.
The Salt Plains in the Wood Buffalo National Park in the Canadian province of Alberta particularly impressed us.
In addition to salt mines, there is also surface salt in Romania:
- Salt comes to the earth’s surface as rock in the Salt Canyon near Praid and
- in the „White Mountains“ near Lopătari.
In Spain, we were able to walk around in the dry part of the Laguna la Playa salt lake.
Mehrere besonders spektakuläre Salzphänomene sind in der Atacama-Wüste im Norden von Chile zu sehen:
- der Salzfluss Rio Salado;
- die Salzwüste Salar de Pedernales mit faszinierenden Formen und Mustern;
- die Salzwüste Salar del Huasco auf 3.700 m Höhe, umgeben von eindrucksvollen Bergen und mit vielen Tieren darin;
- die Salzwasserteiche und Salzlandschaft Laguas Escondidas de Baltinache;
- die pittoresken Lagunas Miscanti y Miñiques;
- die Salzwüste Salar de Aguas Calientes Sur, wie gemalt, und darin die „gesalzenen“ roten Felsen Piedras Rojas;
- die Fels-, Sand- und Salzwüste sowie Mondlandschaft Valle de la Luna;
- die Salare Aguas Calientes Norte und Loyoques o Quisquirio auf dem Altiplano.
Im Nordwesten von Argentinien konnten wir mitten durch die riesige weiße Fläche der Salinas Grandes fahren. Hier wird Salz in großen Mengen abgebaut.
Several particularly spectacular salt phenomena can be seen in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile:
- the Rio Salado salt river;
- the salt desert Salar de Pedernales with fascinating shapes and patterns;
- the salt desert Salar del Huasco at an altitude of 3,700 m, surrounded by impressive mountains and with many animals in it;
- the salt ponds and salt landscape Laguas Escondidas de Baltinache;
- the picturesque Lagunas Miscanti y Miñiques;
- the salt desert Salar de Aguas Calientes Sur, as if painted, and in it the „salted“ red rocks Piedras Rojas;
- the rock, sand and salt desert and lunar landscape Valle de la Luna;
- the salars Aguas Calientes Norte and Loyoques o Quisquirio on the Altiplano.
In the north-west of Argentina, we were able to drive right through the huge white expanse of the Salinas Grandes. Salt is mined here in large quantities.
