Moderne Kunst interessiert uns, insbesondere moderne Bildhauerei. Nicht jedes Exponat inspiriert uns, aber oft sind wir angeregt, machmal auch aufgeregt. Häufig erzeugt ein Werk eine Assoziation, manchmal bewirkt das Lesen seines Titel eine ganz andere.
Auf unseren Reisen ist Kunst in der Öffentlichkeit, besonders in Parks, eine Einladung, der wir kaum widerstehen können. Meistens ergeben sich großartige Erlebnisse mit wunderbaren Anregungen:
- Das Kröller-Müller Museum in den Niederlanden ist in einen Nationalpark eingebettet und hat neben einem exzellenten Skulturenpark u.A. eine große Van Gogh – Sammlung.
- In Vilhelmina, in Schwedisch Lappland, werden im Winter Skulpturen aus Eisblöcken geschaffen und im Ort ausgestellt.
- Im Park Djurgården in Stockholm sind wir auf eine Ausstellung der schwedischen Künstlerin Eva Hild gestoßen.
- In Finström haben Schüler und Lehrer der Ålands Volkshochschule auf dem Außengelände der Schule und im angrenzenden Wald ‚Ålands Art Park‘ angelegt, mit markiertem Kunst-Wanderweg.
- Zwischen Peranka und Suomussalmi, in Finnland steht das beeindruckende Stille Volk von Reijo Kela, ungefähr tausend lebensgroße Figuren jeweils aus einem Holzkreuz mit Kleidung und einem Kopf aus Grassoden.
- Das Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Dänemark präsentiert großartige moderne Kunst, drinnen und draußen an der Ostsee.
- Während der Biennale in Venedig haben wir dort zwei kleine Parks mit Skulpturen entdeckt, u.A. mit einigen der hyperrealistischen Werke von Carole Feuerman.

Sculpture parks
Modern art interests us, especially modern sculpture. Not every exhibit inspires us, but we are often stimulated, sometimes even excited. Frequently a work creates an association, sometimes reading its title causes a completely different one.
On our travels, art in public, especially in parks, is an invitation we find hard to resist. Most of the time, great experiences with wonderful inspiration result:
- The Kröller-Müller Museum in the Netherlands is embedded in a national park and has, among other things, a large Van Gogh collection in addition to an excellent cultural park.
- At Vilhelmina, in Swedish Lapland, sculptures are created from blocks of ice in winter and exhibited in the village.
- In Djurgården Park in Stockholm we came across an exhibition by the Swedish artist Eva Hild.
- At Finström, students and teachers from the Åland Folk High School have created ‚Ålands Art Park‚ on the school’s outdoor grounds and in the adjacent forest, with a marked art walking trail.
- Between Peranka and Suomussalmi, in Finland stands the impressive Quiet People by Reijo Kela, about a thousand life-size figures each made of a wooden cross with clothes and a head of sod.
- The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark presents great modern art, indoors and outdoors by the Baltic Sea.
- During the Venice Biennale, we discovered two small parks of sculptures there, including some of Carole Feuerman’s hyper-realistic works.

- Orvydas Garten ist nicht nur ein mystischer Skulpturenpark sondern auch historisch und politisch bedeutsam für Litauen.
- Im Dorf Žeimelis, im Norden Litauens, sind witzige Skulpturen aus Schrott aufgestellt.
- Unweit vom geografischen Zentrum Europas hat der litauische Bildhauer Gintaras Karosas einen wunderbaren Park mit Skulpturen internationaler Künstler geschaffen.
- In der Nähe von Trakai, in Litauen, gibt es einen ganzen Hügel voller Engel-Figuren, überwiegend aus Holz geschnitzt.
- Bei Sabile, in Lettland, nutzt der experimentelle Künstler Ojãrs Feldbergs die Felder eines Bauernhofs als Kunstmuseum Pedvale mit unzähligen Skulpturen.

- In Târgu Jiu, der Geburtsstadt von Constantin Brâncusi, stehen in Parks bedeutende Werke des berühmten rumänischen Bildhauers.
- Die Zitadelle von Alba Iulia / Karlsburg, in Rumänien, haben wir besucht, als dort beeindruckende Werke des rumänischen Bildhauers Darius Hulea ausgestellt wurden.
