Wir haben den Schwarzwald hinter uns gelassen und sind ein gutes Stück nach Norden gefahren. In Leimersheim im Landkreis Germersheim haben wir einen guten Wohnmobilstellplatz gefunden. Auf einem Spaziergang zum Rhein entdecken wir Altarme des Flusses und einen faszinierenden Auwald. Der Rhein hat hier einen Hochwasserschutzdamm. Der Wasserstand des Flusses ist hoch und er hat eine sehr starke Strömung. Ein Wehr im Damm ist geöffnet, sodass der Auwald geflutet wird.
At the Rhine near Leimersheim
We left the Black Forest behind us and drove a good bit north. At Leimersheim in the district of Germersheim we have found a good camper pitch. On a walk to the Rhine we discover oxbow lakes of the river and a fascinating alluvial forest. The Rhine has a flood protection dam here. The water level of the river is high and it has a very strong current. A weir in the dam is open so that the alluvial forest is flooded.
