Nördlich von Saint-Jouin-Bruneval ist nahe der Küste ein offizieller Wohnmobil-Stellplatz eingerichtet. Dort sehen wir viele Womos und sind froh, den kleinen Stellplatz in Cauville-sur-mer genutzt zu haben. Allerdings führt von hier aus eine Straße in Serpentinen zum Meer hinab. Sie ist so spektakulär, dass wir uns hier nicht über das absolute Halteverbot wundern. Nach der zweiten Kehre blicken wir jedoch auf riesige Gastanks, die unter der Steilküste „versteckt“ sind. Auch ein Industriehafen für Gastanker kommt ins Blickfeld.
Warum daneben ein riesiger Pkw-Parkplatz liegt (mit Höhenbegrenzung: für Wohnmobile unerreichbar), verstehen wir zunächst nicht. Doch dann entdecken wir den Sandstrand unterhalb der Steilküste. Ein großes Areal unter den Felsen ist eine hohe Halde aus großen Kieselsteinen, von der Felswand abgebrochen, von der Brandung bearbeitet und aufgetürmt.
North of Saint-Jouin-Bruneval, near the coast, there is an official camper van site. We see many camper vans there and are glad to have used the small pitch at Cauville-sur-Mer. However, from here a road leads down in serpentines to the sea. It is so spectacular that we are not surprised that there is no stopping here. After the second hairpin bend, however, we catch sight of huge gas tanks „hidden“ under the cliff. An industrial harbour for gas tankers also comes into view.
At first we don’t understand why there is a huge car park next to it (with height restrictions: inaccessible to motorhomes). But then we discover the sandy beach below the cliff. A large area under the rocks is a high heap of large pebbles, broken off from the rock face, worked and piled up by the surf.
