Östlich von Cartagena, bei Cabo de Palos, trennen zwei Nehrungen das Mar Menor vom Mittelmeer ab. Wir haben uns auf die südliche Landzunge gefreut. Aber auf der über zwanzig Kilometer langen Strecke ist das Mittelmeer kaum zu sehen. Praktisch die gesamte Nehrung ist mit Hotel- und Appartment-Hochhäusern bebaut. Also kehren wir zurück zum hohen Leuchtturm am Cabo. Vom Parkplatz vor dem Turm sieht es so aus, als stehe er auf einem gewöhnlichen Hügel. Nur ein paar Schritte um den Hügel herum ist zu erkennen, dass hier eine wild zerklüftete Küste ist. Dort peitscht der aufgezogene Sturm das Meer auf.
To the east of Cartagena, near Cabo de Palos, two spits separate the Mar Menor from the Mediterranean. We were looking forward to the southern headland. But on the over twenty kilometers long route, the Mediterranean is barely visible. Virtually the entire spit is built with hotel and apartment skyscrapers. So we return to the high lighthouse at the Cabo. From the parking lot in front of the tower, it looks like it is standing on an ordinary hill. Only a few steps around the hill, you can see that this is a wild, rugged coastline. There the approached storm whips up the sea.
Die untergehende Sonne illuminiert den Leuchtturm und die Megacity auf der Nehrung. Auf dem großen Parkplatz verbringen wir die Nacht in Gesellschaft einiger anderer Wohnmobile.
