Auf Gotland sind besonders viele frühgeschichtliche Monumente erhalten. 47 Meter lang ist die Schiffssetzung aus ungefähr 100 Steinen im Wald bei Gnisvärd, die größte auf der Insel. Wenige Meter dahinter steht eine weitere von 36 Metern, ein wenig ins Erdreich eingesunken.
Ancient sites on Gotland On Gotland are particularly many prehistoric monuments preserved. 47 meters long is the Stone Ship of about 100 stones in the forest near Gnisvärd, the largest on the island. A few meters behind is another one of 36 meters, sunk a little into the ground.
Ein schmales, fünf Meter breites Exemplar der 350 Schiffssetzungen Gotlands steht direkt an der Straße bei Gannarve, südlich von Klintehamn. Hier hatte die Beerdigungs-Gesellschaft eine schöne Aussicht auf die Inseln Karlsö und Lilla Karlsö.

Bei Gålrum, westlich von Ljugarn, liegt ein Feld mit über 100 Gräbern, das in der Bronzezeit (etwa 1500 vor bis zur Zeitenwende) für Begräbnisse genutzt wurde.
Near Gålrum, west of Ljugarn, there is a field of over 100 graves that was used for funerals in the Bronze Age (about 1500 BC until Christ’s birth).
Bei Boge, im Nordosten der Insel, liegt tief im Wald die Schiffssetzung Tjelvars Grav. Der Sage nach liegt hier der Entdecker Gotlands, Tjelvar, begraben. Nur ein paar hundert Meter entfernt war eine natürliche Anhöhe durch Mauern verstärkt und diente während der Eisenzeit als eine von etwa 100 Fluchtburgen Gotlands.
Near Boge, in the northeast of the island, lies deep in the forest, the Stone Ship Tjelvars Grav. Legend has it that the discoverer of Gotland, Tjelvar, is buried here. Only a few hundred meters away, a natural hillock was fortified by walls and served as one of Gotland’s refuge forts during the Iron Age.
