„Weg mit den Alpen!“ wird in Norddeutschland gern scherzhaft gefordert, damit der Blick aufs Mittelmeer ungestört sei. Das Massis del Montgrí (Massiv des grauen Bergs, wenn wir das richtig interpretieren) versperrt tatsächlich unseren Blick aufs Mittelmeer. Ostnordöstlich von Girona steht das graue Massiv direkt an der Costa Brava.
Auf dem höchsten Punkt thront das Castell del Montgrí. Es sollte den Hafen von Torroella de Montgrí schützen. Doch der Hafen versandete und das Castell wurde nie fertig gestellt.
Unobstructed view of the Mediterranean!
„Away with the Alps!“ is a popular joke in northern Germany, so that the view of the Mediterranean is undisturbed. The Massis del Montgrí (massif of the gray mountain, if we interpret that correctly) actually blocks our view of the Mediterranean Sea. East of Girona the gray massif stands directly at the Costa Brava.
Perched on the highest point is the Castell del Montgrí. It was supposed to protect the port of Torroella de Montgrí. But the harbour silted up and the castell was never completed.
