Von Klaipėda fahren wir mit der Fähre nach Smiltynė auf der Kurischen Nehrung. Das Memeler Tief zwischen Kurischem Haff und Ostsee ist kaum 600 m breit. An der Ostseeseite der Nehrung unweit Smiltynė führt an einem großen Parkplatz ein Holzbohlenweg über die steile Düne zum Strand.
Curonian Spit From Klaipėda we take the ferry to Smiltynė on the Curonian Spit. The Memel Deep between the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea is barely 600 m wide. On the Baltic Sea side of the Spit not far from Smiltynė, a boardwalk leads over the steep dune to the beach at a large car park.
An der Straße nach Süden werden wir beobachtet. Zwei Elche stehen an der Straße im Wald. Als wir anhalten und sie fotografieren, ziehen sie sich zurück.
On the road south we are observed. Two elks are standing by the road in the forest. When we stop and take pictures of them, they withdraw.
