Von Boñar aus, nordöstlich von León, sind wir den ganzen Tag in etwa 800 bis 1.200 m Höhe südlich der Picos de Europa nach Osten gefahren. Es ist kalt, der Himmel bedeckt und schließlich schneit es auch noch. Kurz vor Erreichen unseres Ziels hat der Himmel ein Erbarmen, er reißt zwar nur kurz auf, aber immerhin hört es auf zu schneien. Vor Orbaneja de Castillo ist die Felswand neben der Straße von bizarren Karstformationen „gekrönt“. Aber das ist erst der Anfang. Unterhalb des Ortes strömt in vielen Kaskaden ein Wasserfall von der gegernüber liegenden Wand. Zusammen mit den Sinterbecken und dem türkisfarbenen Wasser darin erinnert die Szenerie an die Plitwitzer Seen in Kroatien. Wir müssen uns mit dem Fotografieren beeilen, denn es schneit schon wieder.
From Boñar, north-east of León, we have been driving east all day at an altitude of about 800 to 1,200 m south of the Picos de Europa. It is cold, the sky is overcast and finally it is snowing. Shortly before reaching our destination, the sky has mercy, it only opens up briefly, but at least it stops snowing. Before Orbaneja de Castillo, the rock face next to the road is „crowned“ by bizarre karst formations. But this is only the beginning. Below the village, a waterfall flows in many cascades from the wall opposite. Together with the sinter pools and the turquoise water in them, the scenery is reminiscent of the Plitvice Lakes in Croatia. We have to hurry with taking pictures, because it is snowing again.
