Die Nationalstraße 307, die uns schon auf dem Weg nach El Mollar überrascht hat, fahren wir weiter nach Norden, auf Cafayate zu. Zunächst geht es weiter aufwärts. Nachdem wir in 3050 m einen Pass überquert haben, wird die Landschaft dramatisch. Zerklüftete Felswände und haushohes, erodierendes Sediment türmen sich mal auf der einen, mal auf der anderen Straßenseite auf. Dekoriert wird das von mehrere Meter hohen Kandelaber-Kakteen, hier Cardones genannt.
The national road 307, which already surprised us on the way to El Mollar, we continue north, towards Cafayate. At first, the road continues upwards. After crossing a pass at 3050 m, the landscape becomes dramatic. Jagged rock faces and eroding sediment as high as a house pile up sometimes on one side of the road, sometimes on the other. This is decorated by candelabra cacti several metres high, called cardones here.
