Aus dem Großraum Mendoza wollen wir über die Anden nach Chile. Dafür ist die Ruta Nacional 7 gut ausgebaut. Aber viel interessanter ist die Ruta Provincial 52 durch das Reserva Natural Villavicencio. Sie heißt Camino de las 365 Curvas und trifft in Uspallata auf die Ruta 7. Selbstverständlich haben wir nicht die nötige Zeit, herauszufinden, was hier in Schaltjahren passiert. Aber so viele Kurven, wie das Jahr Tage hat, ist anspruchsvoll genug. Wir haben nicht nachgezählt. Dafür sind wir zu sehr damit beschäftigt, die vielen Kurven der schmalen Schotterstraße zu meistern. In 2100 m Höhe finden wir einen guten Stellplatz für Nachmittag, Abend und die Nacht. Guanakos kommen vorbei und schauen neugierig nach dem fremden Fahrzeug.
Road of 365 curves
From the greater Mendoza area we want to cross the Andes to Chile. The Ruta Nacional 7 is well developed for this. But the Ruta Provincial 52 through the Reserva Natural Villavicencio is much more interesting. It is called Camino de las 365 Curvas and meets Ruta 7 at Uspallata. Of course, we don’t have the time to find out what happens here in leap years. But as many curves as the year has days is challenging enough. We haven’t counted. We are too busy for that, mastering the many curves of the narrow gravel road. At an altitude of 2100 m we find a good pitch for the afternoon, evening and night. Guanacos come by and curiously look at the foreign vehicle.

Am Morgen finden wir uns in Milchsuppe wieder. Die 30 m entfernte Straße ist im Nebel nicht zu sehen. Beim Frühstück reißt der Nebel kurz auf und schon ist die Sicht wieder 5 m. Aber als wir aufbrechen, um die weiteren der vielen Kurven zu durchfahren, ist die Sicht gut. Unterwegs hängen stellenweise noch Nebelbänke in den Bergen. Immerhin geht es auf 3000 m hinauf.
In the morning we find ourselves in milk soup. The road 30 m away is not visible in the fog. At breakfast, the fog breaks briefly and then visibility is already 5 m again. But as we set off to negotiate more of the many bends, the visibility is good. On the way, fog banks still hang in the mountains in places. After all, we are going up to 3000 m.
