Von den vielen geologischen Besonderheiten im Big Bend National Park hat uns der Tuff Canyon besonders beeindruckt. Der Blue Creek, von Regenfällen in den Chisos Mountains gespeist, hat hier einen spektakulären Canyon durch Schichten aus vulkanischem Tuffstein und Basalt gespült. Uns erinnern die Canyon-Wände an die Tufflandschaft auf der griechischen Insel Santorini.

Of the many geological features in Big Bend National Park, we were particularly impressed by Tuff Canyon. Blue Creek, fed by rainfall in the Chisos Mountains, has washed a spectacular canyon through layers of volcanic tuff and basalt. The canyon walls remind us of the tuff landscape on the Greek island of Santorini.
