Auf dem Weg von Meteora zur Ägäis kommen wir westlich von Lárissa an vielen Baumwollfeldern vorbei. Herumkommer hat „in einem seiner früheren Leben“ eine Elektrikerlehre in einer Spinnerei und Weberei gemacht. Daher weiß er, wie große Ballen extrem komprimierter Baumwolle aufgebrochen und daraus Fäden gesponnen und zu Stoffen verwebt werden. Aber über den Grundstoff Baumwolle weiß er auch nicht viel mehr, als aus dem Blues der cotton fields.
Als wir entdecken, dass jetzt Erntezeit ist, sind wir begeistert mit der Kamera dabei. Die kuscheligen, weichen und strahlend weißen Inhalte der Samenkapseln sind einfach faszinierend. Frau Rumkommer fragt sie, was sie einmal werden möchten, und muss sich die Antwort selbst ausmalen. Vielleicht Badetuch, Socke oder T-Shirt, wer weiß das jetzt schon.
Cotton harvest On the way from Meteora to the Aegean, west of Lárissa we pass many cotton fields. „In one of his earlier lives,“ Aroundgetter has learnt electrician in a spinning and weaving factory. Thus he knows, how large bales of extremely compressed cotton are broken up and spun to yarns and woven into fabrics. But he does not know much more about the basic cotton fabric than from the blues of cotton fields. When we discover that now is harvest time, we are enthusiastically at it with the camera. The cuddly, soft and radiant white contents of the seed capsules are simply fascinating. Mrs. Roundgetter asks them what they want to be, and has to paint the answer herself. Maybe bath towel, sock or T-shirt, who knows that already.
