Wir entdecken immer mehr hinreißende Berglandschaften in Reichweite der Mittelmeerküste. Der nächste Ort nördlich von Caldes de Montbui ist mal wieder ein Sant Feliu, nämlich Sant Feliu de Codines. Dahinter tut sich nach Osten und Norden eine gewaltige Schlucht auf.
To the end of the gorge
We are discovering more and more gorgeous mountain landscapes within easy reach of the Mediterranean coast. The next town north of Caldes de Montbui is once again a Sant Feliu, namely Sant Feliu de Codines. Behind it to the east and north a huge gorge opens up.
Die Straße ist ein Abenteuer: Unmittelbar rechts geht es beliebig tief in den Abgrund, links türmt sich die bröselnde Felswand auf, mit Steinschlag. An besonders gefährdeten Stellen ist die Wand mit Maschendraht gesichert, um Steine aufzufangen. In einigen Außenkurven ist die Straße so schmal, dass ein entgegen kommendes Fahrzeug kaum passieren kann. Zu unserem Glück ist kaum Verkehr. Und dann ‚klebt‘ in einem großen Felsvorsprung am Ende der Schlucht das ehemalige Kloster St. Miquel del Fai.
The road is an adventure: Immediately on the right, it goes arbitrarily deep into the abyss, on the left, the crumbling rock wall piles up, with rockfall. In particularly vulnerable places, the wall is secured with wire mesh to catch stones. In some outer curves, the road is so narrow that an oncoming vehicle can hardly pass. To our luck, there is hardly any traffic. And then, in a large rocky promontory at the end of the gorge, the former monastery of St. Miquel del Fai is „stuck“.
