Brigdes We are in Arcadia, sung by some great German poets. But many of them were not at all here. Yes, there are beautiful places to see, for example barren landscapes, adorned with pines and cypresses. But the people who have to earn their livelihood from this country are not to be envied. West of Astros, about 25 km southwest of Náfplio, there lies the monastery Loukós. This is nothing special in Greece. Unusual is the aqueduct, a few meters away. It is completely covered with lime sinter like a dripstone cave. In the dry stream that flows under the aqueduct we observe butterflies. And in the monastery garden, the big rubber trees carry plums of small figs.
We go back to the east coast and further south. A few kilometers south of Astros, near Agio Andreou, stands in the middle of the landscape in the now washed wide (at the time dry) river bed a bow bridge from the time of the Turks.
