Auf dem Weg von den Karpaten bei Buzău zur Donau im Osten Rumäniens lassen wir die Nationalstraße 2B links liegen. Stattdessen fahren wir auf Landstraßen durch die Câmpia Brăilei (Brăila-Ebene). Der Kontrast zum Gebirge könnte kaum größer sein. Dieser Teil der Großen Walachei (Muntenia) ist flach wie Holland, aber dünn besiedelt. Die schier endlose Ebene ist am Besten mithilfe der Freileitungen zu vermitteln, von denen man meinen könnte, sie gedeihen hier gut.
Through the Brăila Plain On the way from the Carpathians near Buzău to the Danube in eastern Romania, we leave the national road 2B on the left. Instead, we drive on country roads through the Câmpia Brăilei (Brăila Plain). The contrast to the mountains could hardly be greater. This part of Great Wallachia (Muntenia) is flat like Holland, but sparsely populated. The sheer endless plain is best conveyed with the help of the overhead power lines, which one might think thrive here.
