Es ist staubtrocken, nachts kalt, tags wird es heiß in weiten Teilen des Big Bend National Park. Und doch wächst hier eine Pflanzenvielfalt, die uns überrascht: Kakteen in verschiedenen Formen und Farben, Akazien, Yucca und Vieles, das wir nicht kennen. Besonders auffällig sind rötliche Kakteen und solche mit rötlichen Rändern.

And how the desert lives
It is dry as dust, cold at night and hot during the day in large parts of Big Bend National Park. And yet there is a variety of plants growing here that surprises us: cacti in different shapes and colours, acacias, yucca and many other things we are not familiar with. Reddish cacti and those with reddish edges are particularly striking.
