Das „Tal des Feuers“ gehört zu den beeindruckendsten Landschaften, die wir bisher gesehen haben. Der Name ist von den roten Sandsteinfelsen abgeleitet, die mithilfe der Erosion eine Bonbon-bunte Landschaft hervor gebracht haben, zusammen mit Kalkstein, Schiefer- und Konglomeratgestein. Der Valley of Fire State Park liegt etwa 80 km nordöstlich von Las Vegas und grenzt an die Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Seine außerordentlich vielfältigen Felsen und Canyons sind extrem farbenprächtig. Bei der Einfahrt in den Park am frühen Morgen begegnen wir einer kleinen Herde Wüsten-Dickhornschafe (engl.: Desert bighorn sheep).
The Valley of Fire is one of the most impressive landscapes we have seen so far. The name is derived from the red sandstone rocks that have been eroded to create a candy-coloured landscape, along with limestone, shale and conglomerate rock. The Valley of Fire State Park is located about 80 kilometres north-east of Las Vegas and borders the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Its extraordinarily diverse rocks and canyons are extremely colourful. As we enter the park early in the morning, we come across a small herd of desert bighorn sheep.
