Vom Karula Nationalpark in Estland sind wir direkt nach Süden gefahren. In Lettland suchen wir an der Gauja einen Stellplatz. In der ersten Hälfte dieser Reise sind wir weiter westlich schon an dem Fluss gewesen. Im Gauja Nationalpark waren wir ein wenig vom Pech verfolgt bzw. vom Wetter. Jedes mal wenn wir eine der landschaftlichen Attraktionen im Park erreicht hatten, setzte ein Gewitter mit Wolkenbruch ein. Jetzt haben wir mehr Glück an der Gauja. Bei Vireši lockt uns ein Wegweiser zu den Klippen von Randatu. Die Gauja hat sich hier durch einen Kalkfelsen gearbeitet und diese Klippen frei gelegt. Über eine Treppe gelangen wir an den Fluss. Dort führt ein Weg am Ufer entlang durch eine üppige Vegetation. Das ist nicht besonders spektakulär aber einfach schön.
From the Karula National Park in Estonia we drove directly south. In Latvia we are looking for a pitch at the Gauja. In the first half of this trip we have already been at the river further west. In the Gauja National Park we were a bit pursued by bad luck or the weather, respectively. Every time we reached one of the scenic attractions in the park, a thunderstorm with a downpour began. Now we have better luck at the Gauja. Near Vireši a sign lures us to the cliffs of Randatu. The Gauja has worked its way through a limestone rock here and exposed these cliffs. We reach the river via stairs. There a path leads along the bank through lush vegetation. It’s not particularly spectacular, but just beautiful.
